Randy is a professional saxophonist, educator and author living in the Atlanta area. His "Complete Jazz Styles" etude, duet and combo books are widely used throughout the US, Europe and Canada. Books from this series have received endorsements from a number of well known jazz artists including Joe Lovano, Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew, and John Fedchock.
After studying music education at Valdosta State College, Randy returned to the Atlanta area and began performing regularly with a number of different bands. Credits include performances with Cab Calloway, Duffy Jackson of the Count Basie Band, Chubby Jackson of the Woody Herman Band, Red Rodney, The Glenn Miller Singers, and opening performances for Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, Jimmy Buffet, Koko Taylor, and Jr. Walker and the Allstars. His studio credits include recordings for/with the Atlanta Braves, the Cartoon Channel, IBM, Francine Reed, Chick Willis, Vernon Garrett, The League of Decency, and many others.
Randy currently maintains private lesson studios in the North Atlanta area while focusing his efforts on creating educational material designed to introduce students to jazz. He continues to perform throughout the Atlanta area and is in constant demand as a jazz, rock and funk saxophonist. |
